[edit] The Advanced Survey Elements Tab
Advanced survey options are located as one of the sub-tabs of the Edit a survey section. In this tab you can direct the survey to do three things.
- Quotas - Quotas enable you to define the total number of needed responses for a survey or question. Once the total is met, the question is skipped, branched or the survey is deactivated.
- Triggers - Triggers are event-based notifications. They watch survey responses for a defined event or condition and email you when the event occurs or the condition is met.
- Conjoint - A conjoint is a special type of question that is dynamically generated to perform multi-variable analysis. Note: once a conjoint question is defined, it must be added to the survey flow.
[edit] Quotas
[edit] Overview
When a Quota is in place, Qualtrics will skip a question, block, or deactivate the survey based on a number of specified responses. Quotas can be measured by plain question response, or by embedded data. This feature is useful when you wish to have only a certain number of responses, or when you have several groups and you want equal responses from all (i.e. equal responses from males and females).
[edit] To make a Quota
- Go to the Advanced Survey Elements sub tab of the Edit a Survey section
- Click on Add Quota
- In the Pop-up select a name for the quota and whether you wish to base the quota off of a question response or embedded data
- Embedded data must be included in the survey flow
- After you have selected the Quota type the conditions section will appear. In this section assign the logic that the quota will be based on
- This is the same logic box, and works in the same way as skip logic or branch logic
- When the logic is assigned the bottom section will appear in which you assign the number for the quota at which your specified action will take effect.
- Next to this is a check box that will reset the Count of the quota without changing anything else in the survey, just click save quota when this check box is selected.
- Finally, select an action that Qualtrics should take when the quota is reached. Qualtrics can not display a question, block, skip a question, or apply skip logic or branching.
[edit] Triggers
[edit] Overview
Qualtrics can alert you when a specific action takes place in your survey. You can specify a trigger by completed responses, embedded data, or by an answer to a specific question. This feature is useful when a generic link is posted to a website (and you want to be alerted as surveys come in), when you are tracking specific respondents, or when you want to be alerted when someone selects a specific answer (i.e. when on a customer satisfaction survey someone selects "very poor").
[edit] To make a Trigger
- Go to the Advanced Survey Elements sub tab of the Edit a Survey section
- Click on Add Trigger
- Select the Trigger Type
- Add the qualifying logic
- Select the action to be taken
- Fill in the fields with the necessary information for your alert.
[edit] Conjoint Analysis
Conjoint analysis is a technique used to assess the different weights individuals place on the features of a given product. There are several different types of conjoint analysis methods. The Qualtrics survey software is equipped with a conjoint creation wizard which uses the self-explicated conjoint model. The wizard can set up a conjoint survey easily and quickly. In the self-explicated model, the respondents are asked “direct” questions about the desirability of a particular list of products and profiles.
Using the Qualtrics Question Wizard, you can build and deploy a conjoint question set in under twenty minutes. If you know the features/levels for the product/service that you want to evaluate, the survey engine handles all the complex logic of preparing questions for feature and level presentation. However, once a conjoint question is defined, it must be added to the survey flow.
