[edit] Survey Flow (new)

We have redesigned the Survey Flow section of the Qualtrics tool. We have worked hard to make it much easier to use.

Note: When making any changes to the Survey Flow, be sure to click the Save button at the bottom of the page, otherwise your changes will be lost.

[edit] Inserting Elements and Items into the Survey Flow

By default, each question block you create in the survey edit section is added to the survey flow.

As you can see above, the "Add A New Element Here" button is available throughout the survey flow so you can add anything you need.

This is the same button you will use to add items to Branches and Block Randomizers.

When you click that button, you are confronted with a menu to choose which item you want to insert. (See image below.)

In order for an element to be seen by a survey taker, it needs to appear in the survey flow.

[edit] Removing Elements from the Survey Flow

To remove an element from the survey flow, just click the Delete button. Each element has a Delete button on its far right side. Image:Delete_button_example.png

Each time you remove an item, you will be confronted with a confirmation dialog, as shown below.

Pressing the Delete button of a Branch or Block Randomizer that contains other items, will be removing not only that branch or randomizer, but everything it contains. You will see the following confirmation dialog:

[edit] Moving Elements in the Survey Flow

Moving elements is now much easier. Now you can actually drag and drop the items to where you want them to be, as well as use your keyboard arrow keys.

Click on the Move button and then drag the element to where you want it to be.

Image:Delete_button_example.png

You will see a green box or bar following your mouse, designating that element you have selected and where you are leaving the element if you let it go at that moment.

You can also use your keyboards arrow keys to move an element. Click on an element (it will have a blue outline around it to designate it being selected). Then use your keyboard's arrow keys to move the element up or down.

[edit] Adding Logic to Branches

When you have added a branch to your survey flow, you will need to add logic to it in order for any elements within the branch to be accessed. You can do this by clicking the "Add a Condition" button. Image:Branch_-_Adding_Logic1.png

You can then specify the type of logic you want to use by selecting it from the first dropdown menu. The remaining menus will guide you through the logic process. You can base it off of questions, embedded data, and quotas (the quota option only appears in the dropdown if you have created a quota already).

To Edit existing logic for a branch, click the Edit Condition button. Image:Edit_Condition_button.png

And to add more logic or remove existing logic, click the + or - buttons. These buttons are available on the right side of the branch whenever you click the Edit Condition button.

If you see a notice about "Invalid Logic", it is either because the logic has not been set, or something has been changed that affected the logic in such a way as to invalidate it. You must either edit the logic to fix it, or remove that condition completely.

Remember to click the OK button when you are finished editing your logic.

[edit] Extras

Branches and Block Randomizers can be collapsed and expanded in order to make items more visible. There are two buttons that can perform each action.

There are Zoom In and Zoom Out buttons in the top right corner of the Survey Flow window, which you can use in order to get a better view of the survey flow as a whole.
