From this button you can:

  1. Add skip logic: With this feature you can redirect respondents based on how they answer a particular question. For instance, you could send respondents who indicated they were a student on Question 1 past questions about their employment to Question 12 which is about their education.
  2. Carry Forward: Here you can capture choices, statements, or items from a previous question and bring them into a later question. You have the option to carry forward selected, unselected, or all choices. Users are now able to carry forward answer choices that were unselected in a previous matrix question. Carry Forward can reduce survey creation time or allow respondents to follow up on choices they answered earlier.
  3. Recode Values: This feature allows you to modify the value associated with each answer choice. For instance, you could dictate an answer to have any appropriate value, such as 1, 0, or -1. These codes will appear in your reports.
  4. Randomization: Select this if you are interested in randomizing the presentation of the answer choices to a question.

More Advanced Options

This editor is very similar to the old "classic editor." There are several tabs that will appear for most question types:

File:graytabs.png

  1. Questions, this is the same as the rich text editor for the question text.
  2. Choices, the old way to enter answer choices and set up carry forwards.
  3. Options, this is where you can set up randomization, Validation (forced response), and recoding of the variable values(answer choice value).
  4. Advanced, this is used to do advanced randomization and/or to recode values. To use this you would have had to select the randomization or the recode values from the options tab.
  5. Preview and Label, here you can specify a static label for your question, as well as an export tag. Static labels are useful for identifying questions as you are building your survey. Export tags are useful for data analysis of data that you have down loaded to Excel or SPSS.
