At Qualtrics we believe in experiences. We want to provide our employees the best employee experience possible. One way we do this is to offer to pay for an annual ‘Qualtrics Experience’. Employees can decide when, where and how to have this experience and then let us know what they learned. This story is part of a ‘Qualtrics Experience’ blog series showcasing our employees and their ultimate experience.

What did you choose as your Qualtrics Experience?

My Qualtrics Experience was amazing. My wife and I went to Hawaii, and it was my first time going there (and flying over the ocean for that matter) and it was her first time since she was 6. Hawaii is somewhere we always wanted to go together. We almost went there for our honeymoon, but decided to go to Mexico instead, and we thought we might not be able to go back until later down the road, but with the Qualtrics Experience we were given, we were able to go, and enjoy a week on the beach, hiking mountains, and scuba diving.

One of our objectives at Qualtrics is to encourage employees to Learn, Lead, and Live. What did you learn through this experience?

It was so fun to learn so much about Hawaiian culture. I got to learn some of their languages and be able to learn about some of their current and past traditions. I went on a lot of guided tours, and we were able to learn a lot about the past, such as which plants were native, how people use to live here 1000 years ago, and how different landmarks have changed. I also learned a lot about the present with the recent flooding that has happened in Kauai.

As far as leading goes, everywhere in Kauai had recycling. From our hotel room to restaurants, there were recycling bins all over. It really opened my eyes to see how a beautiful place like this cares so much about the environment, and really opened my eyes to what I could do back in Utah to try and recycle more.

I did a lot of new things during this trip, such as scuba diving, kayaking, and seeing dolphins! These were all things I have always wanted to do, and it was great to finally experience this.
