Why Qualtrics

Why Qualtrics – Benjamin Cook – Senior Manager, Sales Operations – Provo, UT

I want to make an impact on those around me. I always want to feel like it matters that I show up every day. Qualtrics has given me a chance to make a difference to both the company and the lives of those around me. Qualtrics never tells me that something is not my job. Instead, I am constantly told to dive into any problem or opportunity I can and encouraged to help be part of the solution.

At Qualtrics we want to connect our people to careers that feed their purpose; jobs that motivate & inspire them. This is Benjamin’s "Why Qualtrics" story.

What attracted you to Qualtrics in the first place?

I was drawn to Qualtrics because of the phenomenal growth combined with the message that I would be able to get involved in major company initiatives.

What was the turning point where you 'had to have the job'?

I initially did an internship at Qualtrics before joining. During the internship, I was able to see that Qualtrics really executed on its promises. I wasn't just an intern doing coffee runs. Instead, I was viewed as a critical part of the team and was given several major initiatives to complete. I had several moments where I said to myself, "I can't believe they are letting an intern help on this big of an initiative."

What does your day look like?

I currently run all of the Americas Sales Operations. My typical day includes working with members on the team to ensure they are progressing in their careers, meeting with sales leaders to ensure sales and operations work in lockstep, reviewing proposals and data, and helping make key decisions.

What is your favorite part of your role?

I love being able to work with members of the team, help them identify gaps in their skills, make a plan to close those gaps, and see them grow and develop.

Any tips for someone who is considering a role at Qualtrics?

I would look at the long term impact on your career. Seriously consider where you want to be ten years from now, and what steps you need to take to get there. Sometimes people are so focused on what they want right now that they don't realize that the fastest way to achieve their long-term goals may be something slightly different. Because Qualtrics is growing so quickly most employees end up moving into new roles several times, many of which are roles that didn't exist when they were hired.

What are your aspirations in career/life?

I think it's important to leave a legacy. I want to be able to look back on my life and say I lived with no regrets, and that what I did had a lasting impact. It's my goal for family, work, community, etc.
