In honor of Veterans Day on November 11 we are curating a series of stories to highlight our Veterans at Qualtrics and pay tribute to the amazing ways they have served our country.

Military experience
19A Armor Officer/Scout Platoon Leader in Operation Enduring Freedom. Awarded Combat Action Badge.

Qualtrics
Federal Business Development Analyst, Washington DC

Which military skills have helped you the most in transitioning (or are most relate-able) to Qualtrics?
The ability to work more effectively as a team through the deliberate application of empathy. Taking the time to understand the background and drive behind your leaders, peers, and reports drastically improves a team’s ability to communicate effectively.

What is your ‘why’? Why do you do what you do, where do you get your sense of purpose?
I derive my satisfaction through the improvement of peoples’ lives by reducing the effort and frustration required to interact with the government. We all deal with the government in one way or another and the only constant you can count on is that it will be bureaucratically inefficient. Reducing the frustration for a green card petitioner, small business loan applicant, or someone in search of healthcare through the application of technology is my purpose.

What attracted you to Qualtrics in the first place?
The uniqueness of our mission. Creating a new category is powerful especially for Government who is completely behind the times in this space. Also important to me is our culture of empowering individuals to take risks on bold projects.

What is your favorite part of your role?
Finding unique ways our platform can improve the lives of citizens. The use cases are pretty endless and still relatively untapped.

Any tips for a veteran who is considering an opportunity at Qualtrics?
Stop considering and submit your application.
