Why are totals in crosstabs incorrect?

We're new to using Qualtrics 🙂
We have put together some crosstabs from our survey and when we look at them the totals don't add up when we merge categories. For example, there's 45 and 45 and the total is 88. We want to use the Chi squares, but we can't if it looks like the data is messed up somehow.

what is the question type you are using for cross tabs.

As for Single select sigma adds to 100%
while for Multi select it can be greater than 100%
Thanks for the response!
We have a Likert scale (Strongly Agree, Agree, Somewhat Agree, Neither Agree or Disagree, Somewhat Disagree, Disagree, and Strong Disagree) that we merged so all of the Agrees are together and all of the Disagrees are together. And we merged demographic categories into two categories.

For the demographic categories, they could select more than one, so is that what is contributing to the totals being less than 100%? That sounds like what you're saying.

How are you showing results is it like your nets agree, disagrees as rows and demographic as banner or columns.

If this is the case your column sum should be 100% not the row sum.
