Product Idea Submission Guidelines and Evaluation Criteria

We value our customer’s opinions, and want to make sure your feedback gets to the hands of our Product Management team. In order to make this process as productive and transparent as possible, we wanted to share the general idea submission guidelines and evaluation criteria Community Moderators will use when evaluating idea submissions:

-Ideas should be scalable and include what the problem is and why your idea is needed. Be sure to include images, mockups, videos, or even a user story about why your idea would benefit everyone.

  • Don’t be afraid to get creative - use this opportunity to build and present your case for why your idea is the best. You’ll need to win over other Qualtrics users by persuading them to upvote your idea!

-We think long and hard about how a new feature will improve the Qualtrics product, and you should too. Here are some example product features that have started as feature requests and are now live:

-Every two weeks, our Product Management team will review the top 10 percent of ideas sent to them by Community Moderators. We are not able to guarantee implementation of ideas.

-Ideas that have been inactive for 6 months or more may be subject for closure and set to the “Archived” status, in an effort to keep our community healthy and organized. Inactive ideas have had no community activity over the past six months, have gained no traction, or are features that have been deprecated and do not have any product improvements planned.

-Please do not use this area for reporting product or community related issues.

  • Product related issues should be reported directly to our Support team.
  • If you would like to leave feedback about the Support Site, please use the static feedback tab found on the right side of any page on www.qualtrics.com/support.
  • If you would like to leave feedback about Qualtrics Community, please be sure to do so through the chatbot located in the lower-right corner of the community.

-Qualtrics owns all right, title, and interest in and to all suggestions, ideas, enhancements, requests, feedback, and recommendations provided by you to Qualtrics.

What makes a good idea from a Community Moderator perspective?

Product & Roadmap Fit

  • Does this fit within the current product roadmap?

Feasibility & Ease of Implementation

  • Is this actually possible with the current architectural guidelines?
  • What resources may be required to implement this idea?

Idea Quality

  • Does the post contain a single, unique idea?
  • Are there duplicate or related ideas?

Consumer Benefit

  • Would this benefit more than just one customer?
  • How often would the feature be used?

Community Feedback / Product Signal Strength

  • Has the idea recently gotten a lot of upvotes or comments?

How is an idea’s status defined?
Every idea submitted will be reviewed by a member of our community team in a timely manner. After an initial evaluation of the idea, it will begin its’ life cycle in the Product Ideas category. At any point, your idea may be updated and set to any of the following statuses:

New Idea

  • All new ideas posted to the Product Ideas category will be assigned the New Idea status. Our team will review the idea and ensure it adheres to our product idea submission guidelines and evaluation criteria. This status will remain as is until it qualifies for a review by our product team.

In Review

  • All ideas that meet our product idea submission guidelines and evaluation criteria and qualify for review will be set to the In Review status. This means the idea has been sent to the Product Management team for review. This status will remain as is until there are clear next steps defined by our product managers.
  • In Review does not guarantee the idea will be implemented. Instead, In Review does guarantee that the idea will be put in front of our Product Management team for review.

Scheduled

  • If an idea has been added to the product roadmap by a Product Manager, it will be set to the Scheduled status. Ideas may be scheduled for development a few quarters in advance, so please know the idea is on our roadmap!

In Development

  • An idea will be set to the In Development status when the feature has been added to the product roadmap and is actively being worked on by a Product Manager and their team.

Delivered

  • When a new feature for an idea has been pushed live to production, the status will be updated to Delivered.

Not Currently Planned

  • If an idea qualifies for a review, but our Product Management team has decided the idea will not fit into the current product roadmap, it will be set to the status of Not Currently Planned. Additional details by our Product Management team will be provided.

Already Possible

  • If an idea can already be achieved with the product, it will be set to the Already Possible status. Additional details about how to achieve the idea that was submitted will be provided.

Archived

  • Ideas with the Archived status have had no community activity over the past six months, have gained no traction, or involve features that have been deprecated and do not have any product improvements planned. If an idea is archived, feel free to comment on it to help us determine if it needs to be moved back into another status.

Something new rolled out today and we think the functionality is quite clearly undercooked. The guidelines above say to refer those kinds of issues to Support. We reached out to Support, and they said we had to report the matter as a New Product Idea, which seems counterintuitive. What should we do?

Hi @CarolK! If you are experiencing a product related issue, you should reach out directly to our Support team so they can escalate it accordingly. Otherwise, the Product Ideas category is a space to suggest product enhancements to our product team. If you have a suggested improvement for any old or new features, you'll want to submit that directly to the Product Ideas category!
