Problem Encoding German Language (Survey Import)

Dear Community,

currently we are migrating our surveys into Qualtrics. Therefore we mostly use the "import" function via txt file. Unfortunately, when we upload the txt files into Qualtrics, it has a problem encoding the German language. Instead of many German letters, you get Chinese (?) characters (e.g. "舅" for "än" or "ワ" for "Ü"). Did anyone already face that kind of problem and has a solution for it? It is very annoying and error-prone to go through the Survey again and fix these mistakes all manually.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, @PatX! It looks like you were able to reach out to our Support Team and they were able to offer you the following workflow to avoid misrepresented characters:

1. Download the translation from Qualtrics as a CSV or TSV file
2. Plug in the translations
3. Select All > Copy All
4. Go to Google Sheets and open an Excel sheet
5. Paste All
6. Save the Excel sheet as a TSV
7. Upload the TSV into Qualtrics (without opening it first)

For anyone else who needs assistance with this, please reach out to our Support Team! 😃
Hello KendraR,

you are right, this is exactly what the support team offered me as a solution. Unfortunately, this solution is less practicable for us. Since we are uploading surveys which are only in German, downloading the translation again, correcting all language mistakes and upload them again would be exactly as much work as just going through the survey and correcting all mistakes by hand.

Nevertheless thanks again for your help.
