is datacenter value important to get a 200 response for whoAmI and getSurvey API call,

Dear community

I see some strange result with my API calls and I am not sure how to justify it.

It seems like no matter what I put in the datacenter section of my API call, I always get 200 response as long as API token is valid and datacenter value is not atleast one character !!!
https://s.qualtrics.com/API/v3/surveys/ and https://random.qualtrics.com/API/v3/surveys/ and https://validDataCenter.qualtrics.com/API/v3/surveys/

with the same API key always return same value,

also
https://s.qualtrics.com/API/v3/whoami and https://random.qualtrics.com/API/v3/whoami and https://validDataCenter.qualtrics.com/API/v3/whoami they all come back with 200-ok httpStatus.

Anyone can guide me why that can be?
