Reporting Demographics

What are your reporting demographics?

These are all the different ways you’ll want to cut your survey data, in addition to your reporting hierarchy. There are many different options which are unique to each organization, but the standard demographic views are:

  • Job Level
  • Tenure
  • Gender
  • Age
  • Job Type
  • Function (this allows for any matrix functions in your organization – e.g., any HR team members who sit in multiple businesses)

What should your demographics and their options include?

We’ve recommended some standard best-practice demographics below. You may wish to add to these or tailor them using the following template. Where possible, we recommend pre-coding demographics for each employee as much as possible, rather than ask them on the survey. This will depend on the information you have available in your human resources system.

What do you need to prepare?

We will need to understand your reporting demographics and the individual options for each demographic in an excel spreadsheet. We will then make sure that this information is incorporated into your reporting dashboards and/or survey questionnaire.

Note: For each demographic you will need to specify whether this is pre-coded to each employee (i.e. you can provide us with this information in your HRIS data) or whether you want us to include this as a question on the survey for employees to select.

When will this need to be completed?

Your Implementation Consultant will define deadlines with you further, but typically you need your final reporting demographics no later than 3 weeks before your desired survey launch date.
