Question 1

Who has access to sample projects?

The Product Tour & Sample Project is available to free, trial, and CoreXM users. Other select sample projects are available to DesignXM trial users.

Question 2

What sample projects are provided in the Strategic Research trial?

Qualtrics provides sample projects to highlight different product features and product lines. The sample Experience Drivers Analysis represents a use case similar to an XM Solution available through a Strategic Research license, and showcases features like exclusive responses, response randomization, and certified questions. The sample Relationship Health project represents a use case similar to an XM Solution available through a CX Foundational license, and showcases features like embedded data, branch logic, and Text iQ. Both projects include response data that can be used to test out additional features like Stats iQ, Crosstabs, and Reporting.

What does a sample project consist of?

Sample projects can consist of several components:

A pre-loaded survey, that demonstrates best practices in survey methodology and construction.

A pre-loaded set of 100 sample responses that tell a story.

A pre-built report or dashboard that demonstrates how results can turn into insights.

Question 4

Can I conduct a survey based on the sample project, or something similar?

Qualtrics recommends upgrading to an appropriate license and using or adapting one of the survey templates or guided projects available in the Catalog instead of a sample project. Trial sample projects have inherent limitations:

The sample projects are provided to highlight certain features and tell a specific story through testing out those features. The methodology used to achieve this will not serve you as well as an XM Solution tailored for your specific business needs.

Sample project response sets are not meant to represent the model sample size or quota necessary to achieve statistically significant results with a given margin of error, nor are they intended to be used for benchmarking. They simply include enough data to surface very specific results through analytical tools and reports. Trial supports only limited emails and responses, capping potential samples below desirable quotas.

Because the trial is temporary and limited, it is not optimal for running a real study. While the trial is intended to give users exposure to Qualtrics, and the opportunity to explore and test out some key features and capabilities to help determine if Qualtrics will meet a user’s needs, the trial does not include every feature that would be available in a full license; for example, dashboards are not available to trial, but are a powerful tool for quickly and easily surfacing impactful insights as part of the full solutions under a license. Similarly, many automations and integrations that would add value to an experience management program by turning insights into actions are unable in trial.

Question 5

Can I remove sample projects from my account?

Yes, you can delete sample projects just like any other project. Once you delete a sample project you will not be able to recover it.

Question 6

Can I edit the survey flow or questions in the sample survey?

Yes, you are encouraged to try to modify the sample project to get a feel for using the survey builder, including survey flow. If you make significant changes to the survey content, it may result in disconnects between the survey and the sample response data.

Question 7

I made edits to a sample project to test out the survey builder tools. Will it revert to its original state?

Sample projects will not automatically revert to their original state if edits are made to the survey content or responses, but you can restore earlier versions through the Version History option in the Tools menu of the survey builder.

How can I learn more about survey construction and analysis to help me experiment with the sample projects?

You can learn more about how to use Qualtrics by exploring the Support Site. We provide you with searchable articles containing step-by-step instructions which can help you learn how to replicate or modify elements of survey construction, conduct analyses, or build reports.

Can I distribute a sample project?

Qualtrics does not recommend distributing sample projects, but you are encouraged to become familiar with the different distribution options available. (See FAQ Can I conduct a survey based on the sample project, or something similar?)

Can I set up actions for a sample project?

Qualtrics does not recommend setting up actions for sample projects, but you are encouraged to become familiar with the different actions available. (See FAQ Can I conduct a survey based on the sample project, or something similar?)

Question 11

I can view the sample project but not the sample data. Why can’t I see the pre-loaded sample responses?

Qualtrics needs to index the sample responses the first time you access a sample project. Visiting the Data tab the first time will initiate this process. You can click away and use other parts of the product if it takes more than a moment to complete indexing. This will be true of loading data for Text iQ, Stats iQ, and other analytical tools as well. It may be beneficial to click through each tab to initiate data loading and indexing and navigate to other parts of the product to explore while you wait.

Question 12

Does the sample project include sample reports or dashboards?

The sample project will load the default report for results, which is standard behavior for the Results tab. The results have not been pre-configured for the specific sample projects. You are encouraged to experiment with the data and visualizations to get a feel for using reporting capabilities.

Due to account limitations of the trial, dashboards are not included in the trial experience, although they are included in upgraded licenses. To see sample dashboards, view the demo video embedded in the survey introduction. You can also learn more about dashboards through the support site, or request a personal demo from Sales.

Question 13

I’m interested in collecting employee or workforce feedback. Is there an EX sample project?

The trial experience does not currently include an EX sample project, but the two sample projects that are provided will allow you to explore some of the platform capabilities that are leveraged by our EX solutions. You can also find select employee/workforce-related survey templates in the Catalog for examples of supported EX content.

Question 14

Is an official Relationship Health XM Solution included in Strategic Research?

No, a Relationship Health XM Solution is not included in Strategic Research, but a sample project that demonstrates some of its key capabilities, like complex survey logic and Text iQ, are.

Relationship Health is included in the CX Foundational license. If you are primarily interested in collecting customer/client feedback or conducting studies like the sample Relationship Health project, the best way to learn about CX capabilities is to talk to our Sales team.
