In keeping with tradition, cancer fighters highlighted during in-game moment

SALT LAKE CITY (February 24, 2020) – The Utah Jazz will host their second “5 For The Fight Night” of the 2019-20 season at the Jazz vs. Boston game on Wednesday, Feb. 26. Game time is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. (MT) at Vivint Smart Home Arena.

The game’s activities will include an on-court recognition of cancer fighters to underscore the impact of the campaign, a pregame check presentation from a local high school, an exclusive T-shirt available for sale and collegiate football coaches participating in a putting contest to raise funds for cancer research.

5 For The Fight is the charitable cause of Jazz partner Qualtrics, and it is the only cause-related jersey patch in the NBA. At the start of the season, Qualtrics and the Jazz announced that 5 For The Fight would remain the patch on all Jazz jerseys through the 2022-23 season. 5 For The Fight is the global campaign encouraging everyone to give at least $5 to the fight against cancer.

The five fighters who will be highlighted during the second quarter on Feb. 26 collectively represent all cancer fighters: Emma Houston, the parents of Wyatt Page, Dani Phillips, Baylee Semrow and Dave Warren. The five are featured in the 5 For The Fight public service announcement alongside Jazz players and were recognized at the first “5 For The Fight Night” in October.

Tragically, 12-year-old Page passed away last month following his two-year battle with brain cancer.

In addition, representatives from Hillcrest High School will participate in a pregame check presentation to 5 For The Fight. Inspired by the message that everyone can contribute, the high school’s student body and surrounding community raised more than $32,000 in the month of December towards innovative cancer research.

The “Item of the Game” for sale at the Jazz Team Store that evening will be a Jazz Classic Edition T-shirt with a 5 For The Fight logo on the left sleeve. Net proceeds will benefit 5 For The Fight.

In a show of solidarity across Utah sports in the fight against cancer, University of Utah head football coach Kyle Whittingham and Brigham Young University head football coach Kalani Sitake will participate in a putting contest during the game to raise funds for cancer research.

Fans can join the fight and donate their $5 by texting JAZZ to 50555 or visiting www.5ForTheFight.org.
