Meet Nicole, UX Designer: Designing Software and Solving Problems
I am very curious about people and their motivations and someone who wants to use whatever I am doing to creatively better the world. Qualtrics allows me to connect these things by giving me an avenue to design software that people can use and feel secure about while doing some interesting and fulfilling problem-solving.
What attracted you to Qualtrics in the first place?
I think the thing that made me really excited about Qualtrics was that I could really focus on impactful and interesting design challenges while still feeling good about the ethics of the company at large and in the world. It feels good to work at a place that doesn't feel like there are ulterior motives to the things that are going on. The other thing that made me really excited about Qualtrics was the idea of having really knowledgeable mentors on my team.
What was the turning point where you knew you 'had to have the job' at Qualtrics?
When I met people on my team that I'd be working with, I knew I had to be on this team. I love how fun and driven the people are. It's great to be surrounded by so many mentors and thought leaders but also so many people that really care about each other and the people they're designing for. (Also so many characters with interesting personalities!)
What is your favorite part of your role?
My favorite part about this role is that I get to take this entire complicated system that I'm designing within and figure out how to make it logical and intuitive for our users through design.
What made you want to get into design?
What made me want to get into design was the mix of creativity (I wanted to be a traditional visual artist growing up), psychology (because I'm always curious about humans), and technology (because I think innovation is so interesting). The fact that I can do all those things in my job is incredible and feels like a dream.
