Impact

Genki, Principal Analyst – From San Francisco to Tokyo

I started my career believing that I should pursue a career in what I studied in college. I slowly became disengaged with what I thought was my calling and decided to take a very non-characteristic maneuver and move to Japan to explore new opportunities. I was then introduced to Qualtrics, where I realized that experiences are a huge driver in everything you do in your daily life, whether it is work or play. To be able to provide what I was not able to experience in the past motivates me today.

If you've been at Qualtrics for a while, why is it still Qualtrics for you?

The people and a chance to stand up a new team in a new region. I’ve been at Qualtrics for almost 3 years! It's not everyday you are presented with an opportunity to experience a team grow to eight times the size of when you started and keep delivering impact to a new region.

If you are not originally from Tokyo, can you tell us your story of moving there?

I am originally from San Francisco. I believe that I am in a unique situation where I was fully exposed to both American and Japanese culture and languages which provided me with the tools to make  a quick impact on an international work environment. Not the easiest thing to do but well worth it!

What has surprised you most about working at Qualtrics?

How "TACOS" is executed everyday. There is not a day where I did not experience one form of or another of the core values. I think the values that are especially prominent here in Tokyo are, "One-Team" and "Scrappy.'' We work cross-functionally in Japan and all members collaborate to overcome various difficult situations. When challenges arise, we gather our knowledge and experiences to formulate the best solutions.

Qualtrics is growing, and if you're ready to find your "why" at a place like this, you can explore our open opportunities at any time by visiting our career page or by joining our talent community.
