Why Qualtrics

Charlotte, Sales Development Representative: Home from the start

I love communication. I know that it might sound like a cliche at first but it's true. I love communicating with people and understanding the way they work. Finding that sweet spot of similarities and connecting with them is the best feeling. And on top of that I'm able to learn about a variety of businesses and institutions and the way they work. Qualtrics gives me the opportunity to connect with so many different people which is great. I'm constantly learning how to solve problems and how to bring businesses to the next level.

What attracted you to Qualtrics in the first place?

I used Qualtrics products while working for my previous employer and I was in touch with the Qualtrics customer support team quite frequently. After every phone call I was genuinely surprised how nice and helpful the support team was. Usually support hotlines leave you frustrated but this was such a positive experience, that Qualtrics left an outstanding impression.

What was the turning point where you knew you 'had to have the job' at Qualtrics?

I knew I had to have the job when I set foot in the Dublin office for the first time. I was onsite for my final interview round and I was so amazed. The energy was incredible. It's hard to describe but it was a mixture of a lot of different vibes: it was social, focused, fun, driven, open, generous, inviting. I felt right at home. The people were incredibly friendly and seemed to have a good time, enjoying each other's company. I'm a very social person myself and think that chemistry and energy is incredibly important in the office and in a team.

If you are not originally from Dublin, can you tell us your story of moving there?

I'm originally from Germany and moved to Dublin for this position. I knew when I applied for jobs that I wanted to move abroad and preferably within Europe. I always thought Ireland is a great place to live with lovely nature and even lovelier people. So Dublin just seemed like the right choice, given that it's also an English speaking country.

When I started at Qualtrics beginning of April 2020, COVID-19 restrictions made it impossible for me to move to Ireland immediately. I was working from home in Germany for three months before it was safe enough to relocate to Ireland in early July 2020. Having only worked from home during my time at Qualtrics so far, even now living in Ireland, has been challenging at times. But my colleagues and team members made it such an impeccable experience nevertheless. I have the best team in the world and wouldn't trade them for anything. We still find ways to stay connected while working from home - virtual coffees or lunches, virtual team events, and having daily catch-ups on Zoom help us feel connected. I can't wait for the day when we get to go back to the office but for the time being, even if it's only through Zoom, catching up with my team virtually is the best part about my day whilst working from home.

What has surprised you most about working at Qualtrics?

I was generally surprised how nice everyone was. I honestly haven't met a single person working for Qualtrics that I wouldn't consider friendly and helpful. It sounds cheesy but it's true. Having such a supportive community is incredibly important and makes even the busiest working days a lot more fun. Working in Sales means that you have to collaborate with a lot of people from other departments and teams to strategise methods for success. Being surrounded by so many talented, open-minded, customer-obsessed and scrappy people makes it so much easier to solve problems and tackle challenges on a daily basis.

What made you want to get into sales?

Sales is fascinating to me because I get to talk to so many different people from so many different backgrounds. Helping them figure out how Qualtrics can support their cause is so much fun. I love solving problems so being able to solve problems for customers on a daily basis is such a rewarding moment. There is a lot of strategic thinking involved but once all the dots connect and you and your customer see the bigger picture, it's quite amazing.
