Why Qualtrics

‘Why Qualtrics’ Jamie M. – CX Product Manager – Provo

Describe Qualtrics to a candidate in 3 words!

Plucky, passionate, persistent

What is your 'why'? Why do you do what you do...

Working in technology, women in technology, getting more women in technology (there's a theme here) by speaking at industry, local, and national events.

Investing a ton of work and heart in the Qualtrics products and engineering teams including reports, data visualization, text analysis (Text iQ), datasets, and data processing. And bringing my dog to work, don't forget the dog-friendly Qualtrics campus!

Skiing (alpine, telemark, nordic - you name it!), road cycling (especially riding tandem with my kids!), and camping in our '87 Volkswagen Vanagon.

My husband, my kids, and my church family at CenterPoint church. Advocating for adoption and the worldwide orphan crisis, leading an annual orphanage work trip to the Hogar de Amor orphanage in Colima, Mexico, and Chairing the board of Creating a Family (the nation’s most trusted adoption and infertility education nonprofit).

So, yeah, there's a lot going on, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm so blessed to live a big life and enjoy a big career!

What attracted you to Qualtrics in the first place?

In the beginning, I just couldn't believe that I had found a company that was cashflow-positive and had such an amazing growth trajectory - that's the combination that initially drew me in. And then as I learned more about the company I got really excited about the Qualtrics scrappiness, transparency, and passion around democratizing research and making world-class experience programs accessible to every organization.

What does your day look like?

Heavens, what's *not* part of an average day for me at Qualtrics?!? Meeting with current and future customers, sales and client success training on new releases, the obligatory email, collaborating with my engineering partners on future requirements or final polish on a feature ready for delivery, and ideally a few minutes of quiet requirements writing or roadmap updates out in the Qualtrics gardens (my favorite place to write!).

What is your favorite part of your role?

As a Product Manager, I get to be a partner in everybody's success. First and foremost, I get to make our customers and users heroes in their organizations as they transform their own experiences. Secondly, I get to empower everybody in the Qualtrics organization to be more successful - I get to help Sales offer ever more effective products, I get to help Client Success and Support assist Qualtrics clients in finding increasing power on the XM platform, and I get to help Engineering be wildly successful as they deliver the products that enable all of these. I get to be at the nexus of customers and technology in one of the world's most dynamic solutions.

You are not originally from Utah, can you tell us your story of moving here?

Moving to Utah was an amazing adventure. We had this whole new base to explore from and enjoy - 5 National Parks, the Greatest Snow on Earth, world-class skiing 15 minutes from the Qualtrics offices, family-friendly culture, and no east-coast humidity - Utah became home so quickly. I'm so grateful we landed here!

Any tips for someone who is considering an opportunity at Qualtrics?

As Sheryl Sandberg said, "If you're offered a seat on a rocket ship, don't ask what seat! Just get on.”

What is your top #LifeHack?

I have 4 kids, a big job, I've been married for 20 years, and I have more hobbies and passions than one can shake a stick at - my top #LifeHack is to look for twofers everywhere. For example, I bike commute - it gives me a little exercise and fresh air, gets me to work, and offers quiet personal time to think. #threefer. If I need to run an errand at night, I bring a kiddo with me for some one-on-one time. #twofer. I listen to audiobooks while sorting laundry. #twofer. Everything that at first blush looks mundane can take on a little extra meaning or relational depth with a little thought.
