Why Qualtrics

Ricardo, Principal Consultant, On Writing the Story of His Career with Qualtrics

Ricardo is a Principal Consultant for Xccelerate in the Customer Success team. Our Xccelerate team is responsible for driving and accelerating customer usage and expansion of the XM platform at scale.

This intersection of business and technology has always interested me.

I am passionate about technology and how it can help improve the human experience. Qualtrics presented a once-in-a-generation opportunity to join a fast-paced software company that seeks to improve all experiences at a massive scale. This, coupled with an amazingly talented and motivated organization, made it easy to choose Qualtrics!

What attracted you to Qualtrics in the first place?

Qualtrics presented an opportunity to write your own story at the company. At many larger companies, the story is already written and you have to simply follow the path that’s been set. Qualtrics allowed me to help define our company's path, which was very exciting.

What was the turning point where you 'had to have the job'?

For me, it was after speaking with our Customer Success Director and CFO. To hear the passion and vision from these Qualtrics leaders really motivated me, and helped me understand the opportunity that the company had ahead. It was easy after that.

What does your day look like?

I product manage our enablement products and services. In addition to these responsibilities, I also manage a team of enablement consultants who engage with our customers to help them get the most out of Qualtrics.

What is your favorite part of your role?

The people! Working side-by-side with such talented and motivated people is why I come in each day.

So you moved to Utah. Can you tell us about the relocation?

I moved from Chicago to Utah, after being raised in Miami, FL. I had never been to Utah and was blown away by the mountains and nature. Being able to enjoy that while still getting the city experience from Salt Lake and Park City was great. Also, this area is significantly more affordable than most metro areas while still getting the same amenities. My wife quickly obtained a job and we were able to buy our first home! I was considering another role in San Francisco but turned it down for the unique experience and affordability of this area.

Any tips for someone who is considering a role at Qualtrics?

What surprised you most about working at Qualtrics?

What surprised me was how Qualtrics was able to maintain the start-up vibe that made the company what it is today, while expanding rapidly throughout the world.

Talk to us about your aspirations in your career and life.

From a career perspective, I plan on moving into Product Management and taking on larger leadership roles within the company. I also want to lead a local sustainability group that helps address both local and global climate issues.

What is your top #LifeHack?

Audiobooks - Driving and learning at the same time!

How have you become involved in community at Qualtrics?

I have joined the "Green Team" which champions office and community initiatives to make Qualtrics and Utah a more sustainable place (check out the blog about the Dublin arm of the Green Team here).

What's the name of the school you earned your MBA at?

Kellogg School of Management

What was it about Qualtrics that made you want to join the team after you completed your MBA?

The opportunity to join a company early and help define its future, instead of following someone else's at a long-established company.

How did your time there prepare you to be successful in your career?

Business school was an amazing experience that allowed me to grow academically, professionally, and personally. Learning business fundamentals, strategies for effective leadership, and gaining an appreciation for different perspectives has helped me become a more rounded leader and person.

Qualtrics is growing, and if you're ready to find your "why" at a place like this, you can explore our open opportunities at any time by visiting our career page. Looking to discover more reasons "Why Qualtrics"? You can find the whole series here.
