Why Qualtrics – Mario Schmidt – Account Executive – Munich, Germany
The psychological component of doing business really interests me. I studied Management and Economics in University, with a focus on Marketing, Strategy & Leadership and Business Informatics. My first job as an IT Recruiter was a good start but at Qualtrics everything ties in together beautifully. Bonus, the CSR programme is something meaningful: fighting cancer.
In summary, Qualtrics is playing a role in changing the world for the better and I’m proud to be a part of it.
What attracted you to Qualtrics in the first place?
Qualtrics is a company with a strong product offering, with an experienced leadership team and a growth mindset. The opportunity to board the ship sailing the “Blue Ocean” – XM – the category defined by Qualtrics, is exhilarating, challenging and visionary.
It’s a company that has been moving fast and continues to accelerate. And boy, do I love a fast-pace! I play hockey, ski, and mountain bike..and always look for new experiences!
What was the turning point where you 'had to have the job'
Interestingly, it was when I read the very first LinkedIn message from my hiring manager Udo and then had a look at the website. Great leaders build their teams themselves. So with every interview, my desire to join grew bigger.
What is your favorite part of your role?
I have the privilege to work with super-smart people, and some of them wrote books I absolutely love. Furthermore, the interactions with prospects and customers are invaluable as I have definitely profited from our company’s collective wisdom.
Any tips for someone who is considering an opportunity at Qualtrics?
Know this is a fast-paced environment – if you’re comfortable with what you know and are doing to date – this is not the right place for you. However, if you want to continue to grow, take yourself outside your comfort zone, challenge and be challenged and progress your career like nowhere else – then you’re made for Qualtrics!
What made you want to get into sales?
Sales has always been enticing to me. Something I'd say is due to my interest in business-psychology, and my marketing studies plus the human interaction aspect. In sales at Qualtrics, you also get to become a consultant to your customers showing them how you can build value for them and how in turn they can add value to their stakeholders. It’s such a huge impact you can have in this role.
What are your aspirations in career/life?
I want to work on something that impacts how we do business tomorrow and in the far future. Experience Management is just getting started and it’s definitely changing interactions for the better.
