Replacing Values from a Lookup Table
About Replacing Values from a Lookup Table
Qtip: You can use this option to change the format of predefined responses. For example, when uploading a service rating, you can switch between a numeric format (from 1 to 5) and a text format (from Very Negative to Very Positive) and vice versa.
Adding Lookups
Data transformation is part of the job’s data mapping configuration.
There are two ways you can access data mapping:
- When creating a job, data mapping is available as one of the steps when setting up the job.
- When updating a scheduled job, data mapping is available from the job’s actions menu.
Qtip: To learn more about data mapping, please see Configuring Data Mapping.
Once you open the job’s data mapping configuration, perform the following steps:
- Locate the field you wish to transform.
- Click the gear icon in the Transformations column.
Qtip: You can apply only one type of transformation to a field. A subscript next to the gear icon indicates that a transformation is already applied to a field. When you apply another transformation, any previously defined transformation is removed. - Select Replace Value from Lookup Table from the dropdown menu.
- Provide the exact value that you want to replace in the Source Value box.
- Provide the replacement value in the Transformed Value box.
- Click the plus icon ( + ) on the right to add more lookups. Click the minus icon ( – ) to remove lookups.
Qtip: Alternatively, you can import lookups from the Excel spreadsheet via the Import Lookup option. For more information, please see Importing and Exporting Lookups.
- Click Save.
Importing and Exporting Lookups
You can export and import lookups using Excel files.
Lookups are defined using the following format:
- A1 cell needs to contain the word match.
- B1 cell needs to contain the word recoded.
- Source values are defined in the A column, starting from A2.
- Transformed values are defined in the B column.
- Each row indicates a source value/transformed value pair.
Qtip: You can export your lookup mappings so that you can reuse them in other jobs. Click Export Lookup to download an Excel file containing your job’s current lookup mappings.
