About Migrating from Distribution Reporting to Respondent Funnel

Qualtrics is deprecating Distribution Reporting to replace it with the XM Directory Respondent Funnel. Respondent Funnel is easier to set up, supports more contact fields, and is designed to be more reliable and scalable by allowing XM Directory metrics, transactional data, Embedded Data, and even automation run status to be uploaded into CX Dashboards for transparency with all your key stakeholders.

Going forward, you will need to create a report using the respondent funnel data in order to visualize and share distribution data. After August 31, 2022, you will not be able to add new Distribution Reporting data sources to CX dashboards, or create new dashboard pages from the Distribution Reporting page template.

Enabling Respondent Funnel

The respondent funnel permission should be enabled for all dashboard editors in your brand. If it is not currently available in your account, contact your brand administrator to ensure that the permission has been enabled for your account and directory.

Enabling Additional Embedded Data Fields

Additional fields must be enabled via the directory settings. If your brand was tracking less than 50 embedded data fields, they have also been added to the directory. If your brand was tracking more than 50 fields, you will need to decide which 50 embedded data fields to add and enable them.

Backfilling Distribution Data

If you wish to load historical data into the respondent funnel, select Load historical data for the fields defined above, then click Load historical data.

Attention: Backfilling is only available for directories that have enabled Respondent Funnel within the last 13 months. This can only be done once per XM Directory so please make sure all the fields you want to track are added to the XM Directory before running the backfill.

Reporting with the Respondent Funnel

To create a report using respondent funnel data, create a new dashboard then map the respondent funnel data to that dashboard. Once the data is in the dashboard, you can use widgets to visualize your distribution data however you want.

Qtip: Create a page using our respondent funnel template to easily generate a complete report with a clean, strategic layout for your data.

Important Notes

  • Data collection begins once the respondent funnel is enabled in the Directory Settings, and automatically collects data for all surveys in the brand.
  • The respondent funnel supports 80 default fields.
  • Data sources can be combined with up to 5 other data sources in the dashboard.
  • The respondent funnel stores data from the last 13 months. For information on extending this time period, reach out to your XM Success Manager.
  • Up to 50 custom embedded and transactional data fields can be supported on the respondent funnel for a single brand.
