Response weighting allows you to establish alternate weightings for your Dashboard Data so that your dashboards are based on a desired distribution rather than the actual distribution. This can help you correct your data for under-surveyed populations that you want to represent appropriately. Qualtrics will automatically determine how to weight each response and correct your widgets as new data comes in. This means you only need to set up your weighting once per dashboard data mapping.
Setting Up Response Weighting
- Go to your Administration tab in Vocalize and select Response Weighting.
Qtip: You can add up to 3 Text Set or Number Set dimensions that you want to correct for (e.g., gender, age, location).
- Click on the Add Dimension button.
- Add the dimensions you want to weight by.
- Enter in your desired distribution percent into text entry boxes next to each of your population segments.
Qtip: You will only be able to set distribution percents for data in responses that you have collected. (e.g., you can only set a percent for people from Colorado if you have collected data from at least one individual from Colorado). Consequently you may need to adjust your response weighting if you collect data from new populations that you want to add weighting to.
- Make sure that the percents add up to 100%.
Qtip: As soon as your response weighting adds up to 100%, Vocalize will automatically calculate the Weight per Response applied to each of your dimensions. As more responses are collected, Vocalize will continually update this weight to reflect the percentages that you have set.
- Click Save.
Qtip: If any of your Weights per Response are above 2 or below 0.5, Vocalize will highlight that row to draw attention to populations that may be severely over- or under-weighted.
Using Time as a Dimension
After saving your choices, Vocalize will automatically create groups for you for your time periods. You can then add weights like you would for any other dimension.
Setting Widgets to Use Weighted Data
After setting up your response weighting, you can configure widgets to use the weighted values by editing the source of the widget.
