About Widgets
Widgets are where your Dashboard’s pages come to life. Qualtrics has many different widgets that can help you view your data by survey response, key drivers, action planning, and more. For more information on specific widgets, please see the Widget Categories section.
How to Add a Widget
How to Edit a Widget
- Open your dashboard and navigate to the Dashboard tab.
- Enable editing on your dashboard by selecting Edit Page.
- Locate the widget you would like to edit. Double-click the widget, or hover over it and select Edit.
- Use the widget editing pane on the right to customize what data your widget uses and what the widget looks like. For more details on the unique options offered for each widget, please view the individual widget’s support page. You can find the different types of widgets listed in the Widget Categories section.
How to Duplicate a Widget
- Open your dashboard and navigate to the Dashboard tab.
- Enable editing on your dashboard by selecting Edit Page.
- Locate the widget you would like to duplicate. Hover over the widget and click on the additional options icon, then select Duplicate.

Rearranging & Resizing Widgets
If you don’t like the size or location of your widgets on a page, they can be both rearranged and resized.
To rearrange your widgets, enable editing on your dashboard by selecting Edit Page and the hover over the widget you would like to move. Click and drag the gray bar across the top of the widget to move it wherever you would like.

To resize your widgets, enable editing on your dashboard by selecting Edit Page and the hover over the widget you would like to resize. In the bottom-right corner of the widget, a gray triangle will appear. Click and drag this triangle to adjust the widget size to whatever you would like.
General Widget Options
Each widget is filled with customization features, but there are some features that are consistent across widgets. We will demonstrate widget editing on a Gauge Chart Widget, but these general principles are the same for most widgets. Select Edit on a widget to access the widget editing pane where these features can be found.
- Title: You can give each widget a unique name. Once added, the widget title will appear in the upper-left corner of the widget.
- Description: You can add a description to each page that explains what each widget means. Once added, a little “i” will appear in the upper-left corner of the widget. When you hover over the “i“, the widget description will appear.
- Show Number of Responses: You can display the total number of unique responses being used in the widget. Once added, the widget response count will appear in the upper-left corner of the widget.
- Widget-Level Filters: You can add a filter that will only apply to the individual widget. See the Widget-Level Filters section below for more information.
Adding Widget-Level Filters
You will only be able to apply widget-level filters to the Word Cloud, Response Ticker, Gauge Chart, Number Chart, Simple Chart, Pie Chart, Simple Table, and Key Drivers widgets. Follow the below steps to add a widget-level filter:
- Open your dashboard and navigate to the Dashboard tab.
- Enable editing on your dashboard by selecting Edit Page.
- Locate the widget you would like to add a filter to. Hover over it and select Edit.
- Either click on the Add Filter option in the widget editing pane on the right, or click on the filter icon at the top-right of the widget and click Add Filter.
Qtip: Filters set on individual widgets will not apply to anything else on the page. - Select the field that you want users to be able to filter by.
- You can change the name of the filter, the available filter fields, and whether or not the filter is locked (meaning it will be a fixed filter for dashboard users) in the filter editing menu.
Qtip: Different data types will result in different kinds of filter options. For example, Text Sets will give you a dropdown list of options, while Numbers will give you a slider scale from which to select a number range (the number range corresponds to the answer choices’ recode values). You can change the data types of your questions and metadata inside the Dashboard Data. - You can remove the filter option at any time by selecting Remove Filter in the filter editing menu.
Filter Interactions
Generally speaking, page filters will apply to widgets that also have a widget-level filter applied. However, in circumstances where the widget-level filter and page filter conflict, the widget-level filter will override the page filter.
For example, if an page filter is set to show only responses from male respondents and a specific widget has a filter to show only responses from female respondents, the page filter will be ignored and the widget will only show female responses.
However, in a situation where a page filter does not completely contradict a widget-level filter, both filters will be applied. For example, if a page filter is set to only show responses from male respondents and the widget level filter is set to show only responses from participants ages 18-24, then the widget will show responses for males who are 18-24 years of age.
How to Delete a Widget
- Open your dashboard and navigate to the Dashboard tab.
- Enable editing on your dashboard by selecting Edit Page.
- Locate the widget you would like to delete. Hover over it and select Edit.
- At the bottom of the widget editing pane on the right side of the screen, click Remove Widget.
- Confirm that you want to delete the widget by selecting Yes, delete this widget.
- Another way to delete a widget is to hover over the widget, click on the additional options icon of the widget that you want to delete, and then select Remove.

Export Widget
You and your users can also export a widget’s data by clicking the download icon. The data is available in CSV, TSV, PDF, or JPG . For CSV and TSV exports, the widget’s data organized in a table, not the exact widget, is exported.
If you have a widget-level filter applied, and try to export the widget as a CSV or TSV, you can decide whether to apply this filter to the exported data.
