About Managing App Configurations

Once you’ve created an app configuration, you can share it, copy it, delete it, or transfer it to a new owner. You can also create a desktop dashboard from a mobile app configuration.

Duplicating App Configurations

Everything about an app configuration gets copied except who it was shared it.

  1. Click the profile icon.

  2. Go to Account Settings.
  3. Go to Mobile App.
    3 line menu next to each app configuration includes a duplicate option
  4. Click the dropdown next to the app configuration.
  5. Select Duplicate.

The new app configuration will have the same name, but with “Copy of” at the beginning.

Creating a Dashboard from an App Configuration

You can create a Studio dashboard from your app configuration. This can be a great way to preview what your data will look like.

Qtip: This dashboard represents the app configuration settings at the moment when the dashboard was generated. This dashboard will not reflect any further changes made to the app configuration.
Qtip: You need the Manage Settings permission to make a dashboard from an app configuration.
  1. Click the profile icon.
  2. Go to Account Settings.
  3. Go to Mobile App.

  4. Click the dropdown next to the app configuration.
  5. Select Create as Dashboard.

The dashboard will be named the same thing as the app configuration, with “Mobile App” added onto the end.

Deleting an App Configuration

You can delete an app configuration if you no longer need it. You can only delete configurations that you own.

Attention: Users will no longer be able to access a configuration once it’s deleted. You can restore a deleted app configuration within a limited timeframe.
  1. Click the profile icon.

  2. Go to Account Settings.
  3. Go to Mobile App.

  4. Click the dropdown next to the app configuration.
  5. Select Delete.
  6. Click Yes to confirm.

Changing the App Configuration Owner

Attention: Once you reassign ownership, you cannot undo this action. Only the new owner will be able to change app configuration ownership.
Qtip: To take on ownership of an app configuration, a user must have a Manage Settings permission and at least read-only access to the corresponding project in the content provider.
  1. Click the profile icon.

  2. Go to Account Settings.
  3. Go to Mobile App.

  4. Click the dropdown next to the app configuration.
  5. Select Edit.
  6. Type the email of the new owner in the Owner field.

  7. Click Save.

  8. If you’d still like to be able to edit the app configuration, select Retain Share Edit Access.

  9. To save your changes, click Yes.

Sharing App Configurations

  1. Click the profile icon.

  2. Go to Account Settings.
  3. Go to Mobile App.

  4. Click the dropdown next to the app configuration.
  5. Select Share.
