About Number Chart Widgets

The number chart widget displays a single numerical value. This value is based on a single metric. Depending on the metric chosen, the numerical value displayed can be based on a field from your dataset.

Field Type Compatibility

The number chart is based primarily on a metric. Certain metrics, such as average, require a field from the data set. Only fields with the following field types will be available when selecting a field for these metrics:

Qtip: You cannot adjust title alignment on a number chart widget.

Basic Setup

To set up a number chart widget, you will be required to add a metric. If you choose a metric other than count, you will be required to choose a field for the metric. The field specifies the where the value of the number displayed in the widget is being pulled from. You can select Options to choose to display the metric in a number, percent, or currency format, as well as specify the number of decimal places you would like to display.

Your available metrics include:

  • Count: The number of responses to the survey; or, if multiple sources have been added, the sum of respondents in all sources.
  • Average: The mean answer of a selected field.
  • Minimum: The minimum value of a selected field.
  • Maximum: The maximum value of a selected field.
  • Sum: The sum of all responses to the selected field.
  • Net Promoter Score: See Calculating Net Promoter® Score.
  • Correlation: Select two  fields to determine their correlation. The result will be given as a correlation coefficient, which is represented as a number from -1 to +. -1 is the strongest possible negative correlation, and +1 is the strongest possible positive correlation.
  • Top Box / Bottom Box: Top box is the percentage of respondents who fit into the highest ends of the scale. Bottom box is the percentage of respondents who fit into the lowest ends of the scale.
  • Custom Metrics: Include any custom metrics you have created. For more information, visit the page on Custom Metrics.
  • Benchmarks: Any benchmarks you’ve created. However, this only adds the benchmark to the widget, no other data; to showcase your own data alongside a benchmark to see how well your data measures up, we advise following the instructions in the Comparisons and Benchmarks section below instead.

Show Change Since

Checking the box next to Show change since allows you to display how the displayed numerical value has changed over a particular time period. The options for the Time Frame are:

  • Yesterday
  • 1 week ago
  • 1 month ago
  • 3 months ago
  • 12 months ago
  • Month to date
  • Quarter to date
  • Year to date
Qtip: “Show change since” is a rolling calculation because the included data is relative to the current date. For example, let’s say you configure the widget to show change since 1 week ago. If you look at the widget on January 8, the displayed numerical value will show you how the data has changed since January 1. If you then look at the widget on January 31, the displayed numerical value will show you how the data has changed since January 24.
Attention: Choosing Yesterday as the time frame will show changes since midnight, not all changes from the past 24 hours.

Under Date Field, select a date field from your data set that you would like to use to base the selected time period on.

Qtip: If there are page/widget filters for Date, for the Show change since option, you should select the same Date field that the filter uses.

The values for this widget are calculated in the following manner:

  • Current Value: Central, largest number. The chosen metric, filtered according to any filters applied at the page or widget level.
  • Previous Value: Smaller, subscript number. The chosen metric, filtered according to any filters applied at the page or widget level, with the date range offset by the amount of time you select under “Show change since.”

Comparisons and Benchmarks

You can add comparisons to your number chart widget so you can compare your data with benchmark data. To add benchmarks to your widget, you must first create benchmarks in the dashboard benchmark editor. Once you’ve created benchmarks in your dashboard, you can add them to the widget by clicking Add.

After you’ve added your comparison, click the pencil icon to edit the benchmark. You can then select your desired benchmark using the Metric dropdown menu. Your dashboard benchmarks will be at the bottom of the list.

Qtip: You can add multiple benchmarks to your widget.

You can then customize the following aspects of your benchmark:

  • Field: Select the field that is used for the benchmark data
  • Label: Determine how the benchmark name appears in the widget.

Under Trend Colors, you’ll see the colors the arrow changes to in order to indicate an increase or a decrease. You can switch the colors by selecting Reverse trend colors.

Attention: You cannot select custom colors.
